Birth
I was born on September 6, 2005, in Shenzhen, China.
Hometown
Moved back to Changsha, China, my family's hometown. Major accomplishments duriung this time include learning how to walk and talk.
Kindergarten
Attended kindergarten in Changsha, at a school that no longer exists and is now rebuilt into a retirement home.
Elementary School
Was often bullied but still made a lot of good connections during this time. Acquired a variety of new skills including: taekwondo, calligraphy, piano, swimming, etc.
Immigration
Immigrated to Toronto, Canada with my family. Resided in North York, where I completed my elementary school education. During this period, I spent a lot of time learning English and trying to adapt.
Middle School
I moved to Richmond Hill for Middle School, there, I met some people that are still friends with me till this day. I also won a lot of math competitions (despite being terrible back in China) and learned to play tennis.
Early High School
At first, I went to an IB high school, but the academic pressure was too strong for me, and the environment was slightly dangerous, so I transferred back to my old school (which offered grades 1 to 12).
Late High School
It was around grade 11 when I started locking in. Not only did my grades improve significantly, I also involved myself in many extracurricular activities, including co-founding the school's coding club, joining the tennis team, and even starting my own nonprofit intiative aimed at providing support for youth newcomers in Ontario.
University
I was accepted into the Computer Science program at the University of Toronto. My focus as I first headed into uni was to become more independent, so I got a driver's license and a few part-time jobs during the summers. I also made some good friends here while I studied 10 hours a day, and collborated with them on many projects. Later, I was able to secure 3 internships in both ML and software, which I am very grateful for.
